“Most of us have spent more time learning to function than learning to navigate.”

Being Captain is a live conversation that changes that — one honest story at a time.

Not a debate. Not a panel of opinions.
A space for deep listening.

Every session, one person — the Captain of the Day — takes the floor to share the unfiltered story of how they navigated their life: the turning points, the doubts, the choices that changed everything, and the clarity that came after.

The audience is not there to judge or debate. They are there to listen, to ask genuine questions, and to take away something real for their own journey. At the end of the session, each panellist offers a word of feedback to the Captain — a moment of connection that turns a conversation into a shared experience.

Being Captain is hosted by Alain Mbe — pilot, author, and life navigator — whose own journey of self-discovery across Cameroon and Great Britain gave birth to the question at the heart of every session: Were you the captain, or the passenger?

Three Chapters. One Honest Story.

🧭
The Origin

Where did it all truly begin? Not the official version — the real one. The moment that set everything in motion, often long before the Captain was aware of it.

The Turning Point

The moment when everything shifted. What was understood. What was chosen. What it cost — and what it unlocked. The pivot that separated the passenger from the captain.

🪐
The Legacy

What the Captain knows today that they wish they had understood sooner. The offer, the mission, or the message they are now sharing with the world.

Alain Mbe — Captain Alain

Alain Mbe — Captain Alain

Born in Cameroon, based in Great Britain, Alain Mbe spent decades learning to function — before he learnt to navigate. His journey into self-discovery, which he describes as an epistemic insight, led him to earn his pilot’s licence, develop the CARE framework (Consciousness, Awareness, Responsibility, Entitlement), and ultimately create Being Captain.

“You will never live long enough to learn everything from your own experience alone. That is why we sit together — to learn from each other’s navigation.”
— Alain Mbe

Being Captain is his invitation to anyone who has ever felt like a passenger in their own life — and is ready to take the wheel.
